Deputy Chief Minister K.S. Eshwarappa has resigned as president of the Bharatiya Janata Party State unit. “I submitted my resignation as party president today. The party’s central leaders will announce a new president in three days,” he told presspersons here on Thursday.
Mr. Eshwarappa said that there had been no pressure on him to quit the post. “It was a personal decision taken by me keeping in mind the interests of the party.”
It is necessary to face the coming Assembly elections under a new president, Mr. Eshwarappa said. The new president will get the cooperation of all party workers in preparing for the Assembly elections, he said.
