Ten engineering students among 12 arrested

A fraud of rewriting answer-sheets of engineering course exams after stealing them while being taken to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University – Hyderabad (JNTU-H) for evaluation was busted by the police on Thursday after arresting 12 persons.

Among the arrested were 10 students of different private engineering colleges in the capital. A book-keeper of Aryabhatta Engineering College in Maheswaram, M. Venkatesh, and postal department’s Mail Motor Service driver, C. Balu Mahender, accused of orchestrating the scam too, were held. Sums ranging from Rs.5,000 to Rs.10,000 per paper were collected from the students, East Zone DCP R. Jayalakshmi said at a press conference.
