The EAMCET-2013 will go into the record books with 3.96 lakh students -- highest number ever -- testing their luck for admission into engineering and medical courses.

The medical aspirants have also touched the one-lakh figure for the first time, said EAMCET-2013 Convenor N.V. Ramana Rao. The test will be held on May 10 in 735 test centres in the State. The engineering test will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the medical test from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. Results would be announced on June 2.

Prof. Rao said students need to be careful about the timing as nobody would be allowed into the examination centre even if they are one minute late. It is better if students reach the centre early, he said and asked the students to visit the centre a few days before to find out the exact location.

Prof. Rao said all arrangements have been made for smooth conduct of the test and warned students not to indulge in malpractices. The police were keeping a tight watch on suspicious candidates and aspirants should not fall into any trap, he said. He also asked the parents not to believe in rumours. This year, 92 candidates have paid fee with a fine of Rs.10,000 so far and students can pay till May 7. Last year, about 150 candidates availed the facility.

This year, 572 candidates applied with a penal fee of Rs.5,000 and all these candidates will get their centres in Hyderabad only.
