HYDERABAD: A Division Bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice A.R. Dave and Justice C.V. Nagarjuna Reddy on Wednesday asked the government to reopen the higher education institutions in the ten districts of Telangana and directed the government to give wide publicity that the institutions will function from Thursday.

Law and order

The government was also asked to take steps to maintain law and order.

The Bench was modifying the earlier orders in a writ appeal field by the State government.

It may be recalled that the government had ordered closure of institutions in Telangana region from December 4 to 18.

This was challenged and the single judge suspended the orders of the government. The writ appeal was field by the government and the Bench had initially stayed the operation of the order of the single judge.

The Bench had asked the government to inform the decision taken by the high powered committee.

Taking stock

The court was informed that the government will take stock of the situation next week. The Bench did not appreciate the stand of the government and indicated that the institutions be reopened immediately. The universities shall take decisions to see that the situation was under control.
