Responding to the CBI's request, the State government on Friday issued orders giving approval for attachment of the properties of Sakshi group of companies owned by Kadapa MP Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, besides those of Trimex group chairman Koneru Prasad and N. Sunil Reddy, a former aide of Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy.
A set of three GOs –Nos 87, 88 and 89 – marked as confidential were issued by the Home Department, stating that the government had no objection to the CBI's request.
As these matters are sub judice, the CBI cannot straightaway attach the properties.
It will now have to submit all the relevant documents, including copies of the GOs, in the special court for CBI cases, seeking its permission to attach the properties and prevent any transaction until the disposal of the cases by court.
The CBI is likely to file a petition in the court on Monday to attach the properties of all the three accused persons and organisations.
Once the court gives permission, the CBI will display the attachment notices at the offices of Jagati Publications, Indira Television and Janani Infra, all owned by Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy and those of Koneru Prasad besides the residence of N. Sunil Reddy in the city.
The entire process would, however, take considerable time because the properties earned by the accused from criminal proceeds would have to be determined for attachment.
Sources said the CBI designated two of its DSPs -- Jaini and Venkat -- to take steps to verify, authenticate and prepare the list of the properties.
The GOs came close on the heels of another order issued by the government stopping its advertisements to the daily and TV channel.
However, the order was stayed by the High Court.
