KOLKATA: The Border Security Force and the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) exchanged fire near the Sidhai border outpost in West Bengal’s South Dinajpur district on Wednesday night.
The BSF opened fire at a group of people near the zero line between the two countries. However, there were no casualties, BSF’s Additional Director General [East] U.K. Bansal told The Hindu on Thursday.
Nearly 40 rounds were exchanged after the BSF opened fire at the group of men, stated to be cattle smugglers from Bangladesh. They attacked the security personnel when challenged.
