The decomposed body of a 40-year-old British national , wrapped in a plastic bag, was found near the busy Bhogal Market on Sunday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Rodick Andrew Reymond. The police suspect that he was murdered at least two days before the body was found.

The blue coloured bag in which the body was found was dumped outside a shop on the Church Road. A police source said that one of the residents made a call to the Police Control Room nearly two hours after someone first spotted the bag. “Preliminary enquiries revealed that initially many of the locals thought the bag belonged to someone in the area who would come and collect it later, while others mistook it for a garbage bag. Later, the bag was opened after the shopkeeper, outside whose premises the bag was dumped, came to open the shop. By then the locals had also become suspicious as a foul smell had started emanating,” said the source.

Area resident Sumer Singh said when the bag was subsequently opened, the body of a well built man with his limbs folded — in a manner that he could be squeezed into the bag — was found inside.
