Udaluguri (Assam): The toll in the violence following clashes between Bodos and illegal Bangladeshi migrants in this district rose to 16 on Saturday. Fourteen people were killed in violence, two in police firing, as clashes continued. Two bodies were found in a village under the Rowta police station on Friday.

District Deputy Commissioner George Basumatary was transferred and Superintendent of Police Anup Kumar Singh suspended for allegedly failing to control the situation, official sources said. On Saturday, eight burnt bodies were found in the Bodo villages of Sonaripara and Jhargaon, which were attacked by illegal migrants. — PTI
