Kolkata: The Communist Party of India (Maoist) has called a 48-hour bandh in West Bengal, Jharkhand and Orissa from April 26 demanding that four of its members recently arrested be produced in the court immediately. The activists were arrested in West Bengal's Paschim Medinipur district last week.

The indefinite blockade, called by the Maoist-backed Police Santrash Birodhi Janasadharaner Committee in the districts of Paschim Medinipur, Bankura and Purulia, entered its second day on Friday.

The outfit is observing the blockade in protest against the alleged indiscriminate detention of villagers by the security forces.
