Melbourne: An Indian-origin taxi driver was assaulted by a passenger in New Zealand's Brookfield on Sunday morning.

Mohinder Singh is recovering at home from injuries received during the attack, the New Zealand Herald reported on Tuesday, without identifying the assailant.

Mr. Singh is the second Tauranga Mount taxi driver to be attacked in the past two days, company manager Bruce Rainey said.

The first driver, working for the same company, was robbed and threatened by a passenger on Monday night, Mr. Rainey said. — PTI
