NEW DELHI: Two British “aircraft spotters,” put up at the Radisson Hotel near the Indira Gandhi International Airport here, have come under the police scanner for “suspicious activities.”

The police received information from the hotel staff on Monday evening that the British nationals were taking an unusual interest in the airplanes taking off from and landing at the airport. The staff grew suspicious when one of them allegedly sought permission for access to the terrace to view aircraft. The British nationals, who had checked in on February 13, were allotted a room on the fourth floor overlooking the airport.

Soon intelligence officials and officers of the Special Cell of the Delhi police reached the hotel to question the duo, which had powerful binoculars and a laptop containing a software package to locate and record details of airplanes passing by the area, including their speed and height from the ground level.
