The Cabinet sub-committee on fee-reimbursement will decide on the mode of implementing uniform fee structure on Thursday before formally announcing the date of notification and schedule for EAMCET engineering counselling.

Though the Higher Education Department officials indicated that the notification would be issued on August 10 and the counselling would commence from August 19, the Cabinet sub-committee which met here on Wednesday wanted to seek legal opinion from the Advocate General before announcing the schedule.

Given the all-round criticism including from some of their Cabinet colleagues against imposing a cap on the fee to be reimbursed to BC and EBC students, the Cabinet sub-committee, was in favour of a consensus on the issue.

Sources said that in view of the government being serious about the quality of education in engineering and professional colleges and transparency in the functioning of the Admission and Fee Regulation Committee, the colleges themselves would have to cooperate to arrive at a unanimous decision. Half-a-dozen members of the Telangana Vidyarthi Parishad managed to gain entered into the D block and staged a dharna. The agitating members opposed the cap on fee reimbursement.
