City police fail to catch them despite hot chase on motorcycle

HYDERABAD: Two scooterists carrying the body of a ‘murdered’ man managed to give the police the slip, and later, dumped the body in an isolated place in Borabanda locality on Saturday afternoon.

A horrified motorist riding alongside the scooter near Meter Factory in Sanathnagar, noticed legs sticking out of the sack on the scooter and alerted policemen manning a roadside check post. Even as the policemen jumped on their motorbike to chase, the scooterists drove into a maze of lanes of Borabanda–Erragadda area and disappeared.

The two patrolmen checked all the lanes up to Kukatpally, but their efforts were in vain. The shocking developments unfolded around 3 p.m. as the Sanathnagar police took up a special drive to check vehicles in view of a spurt in vehicle thefts.

“The shaken motorcyclist was shouting from a distance that two persons were carrying a body on a scooter,” constables Mohan and Prakash told their higher-ups.

An hour later, police got information that the body of an unidentified man aged about 30 years was found in an open place near Spring School, a kilometre from the main road.

Inspector A. Balakoti said description given by the motorcyclist seemed to match with that of the body.

Police suspect that the victim, found with injuries on his head, may have been murdered the previous day.
