Continuing the crackdown on private bus operators and buses of educational institutes in the State, the Transport Department on Wednesday seized 44 private buses and 100 school buses, including 10 in the State capital, for operating without valid documents and other violations. In addition to the 36 private buses seized on Tuesday, authorities seized 39 private buses in Adilabad, East Godavari, Medak, Medchal, and at other places in the State. All these operators were violating many rules, including extra fitment of seats, permit violation, commercial transport of goods etc, said Joint Transport Commissioner B. Venkateswarlu. In East Godavari, authorities seized 32 private buses, besides registering cases against operators of 43 buses, said DTC G. Krishnaiah.
With regard to buses of educational institutes at other places in the State, the department seized majority buses in West Godavari, Guntur, Karimnagar districts.
