Seven dengue cases are being treated in the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, hospital authorities said on Saturday.

Of these, only one is from Coimbatore district – from Podanur. While three are from Erode and one from Karur, the rest are from Tirupur. Their condition is stable, the authorities said.

Meanwhile, two suspected dengue cases have been detected in a village near Gobichettipalayam in Erode district and were referred to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for further treatment.

A team of health officials, during a routine disease surveillance exercise, found five fever cases in Sundakkampalayam village in Nambiyur block on Friday.

In the preliminary tests, two persons were found having low platelet count and referred to Coimbatore for further treatment.

Three persons were treated at a nearby primary health centre and asked to stay at home.

“We have deputed a team of workers to monitor the health of the three persons. Besides, we have formed a special team.” Deputy Director of Health Services Dr. C. Sekar said.
