PATHANAMTHITTA: RSP State secretary T. J. Chandrachoodan said the LDF, if elected to power in the ensuing Assembly polls, should ensure that the key portfolios of Education, Revenue, Health, Finance and Home were allotted only to national parties "devoid of any sectional, communal or parochial interests."
Prof. Chandrachoodan was talking to The Hindu during an RSP vehicle campaign in the Central Travancore district of Pathanamthitta on Monday. He was accompanied by N. K. Premachandran, MP.
On the inclusion of the Democratic Indira Congress (K) in the LDF, the RSP leader said no one had raised the issue in the LDF. The DIC(K) too had not made any formal request to the LDF in this regard. The CPI(M) had to take a final decision on the issue, which was unlikely before February, he said.Asked about A. V. Thamarakshan's reported statement that both the CPI(M) and the CPI had agreed to include his party in the LDF, Prof. Chandrachoodan said it was "sheer humbug."
Our Staff Reporter adds from Kochi: RSP (B) leader A.V. Thamarakshan said here on Monday that the UDF Government had no moral right to make policy decisions as it had lost the support of the people.
Addressing a press conference, he said the 'Hunger-free Kerala' project and the plan to give food to helpers of patients at hospitals would remain only on paper. He charged the UDF Government with pushing the State further into a debt trap.
