It was the first visit of Mr. Kumaraswamy to party headquarters after becoming Chief Minister JD(S) enters into electoral pact with AIADMK
Bangalore: The former Prime Minister and president of the Janata Dal (Secular) H.D. Deve Gowda and his son and Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy came together on Saturday to address a meeting of party legislators held at the party headquarters here.
It was also the first time that Mr. Kumaraswamy visited the party headquarters after becoming Chief Minister. Incidentally, it was also the first all-important meeting held at the party headquarters after the revolt by the party legislators led by Mr. Kumaraswamy which ultimately resulted in the party aligning with the BJP and forming a coalition government in the State.
Apart from most of the legislators, the new State president of the party M.P.Prakash was also present.
An interesting outcome of the meeting was that the Janata Dal (S) would fight against the BJP and the Congress in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections, and an announcement was also made that the party had entered into an electoral alliance with the AIADMK.
The Janata Dal (S) has been given one seat Thali, near Hosur along the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border.
The seat is presently held by the BJP. The Janata Dal (S) candidate for the Thali seat would be announced on Sunday.
