Ramcharan, Allu Arjun travel in the train; fans greet stars at Kazipet, Warangal

HYDERABAD: Praja Rajyam president Chiranjeevi on Saturday said the rail engine was symbolic of the party’s USP of social justice on Saturday morning, as he flagged off a 15-bogie ‘Praja Rail’.

His son Ramcharan Tej, daughter Sushmita and their cousin Allu Arjun, embarked on a campaign in the chartered train which was plastered with posters of the film actor, his party symbol and the flag.

However, that they were not trained adequately was evident from their replies to the barrage of questions from the media.

Fans and partymen on Platform No. 10 at Secunderabad Railway Station roared as the megastar walked in and spoke to presspersons before flagging off the special.

Several hundred people held aloft placards with the word ‘Change’ written prominently along with pictures of Mr. Chiranjeevi and his brother Pawan Kalyan.

The train was hired with the single point agenda of taking the symbol to the people four days ahead of the first phase of polling on April 16.

Although Mr. Chiranjeevi and Mr. Kalyan were initially scheduled to travel in the train till Warangal, they called off their plans at the last minute.

Instead, Mr. Chiranjeevi, his son and nephew posed for pictures standing on the engine.

At Kazipet, hundreds of party supporters and fans greeted the stars who stood at the door waving to them holding toy trains. At Warangal too, the scene was the same, except that the crowds were a bit more.

Prominent towns

The train will wind its way through prominent towns across the State till the northern-most part of Coastal Andhra and return to Secunderabad by another route on April 14, via Tirupati and touching Vijayawada twice.
