WASHINGTON: The Obama administration is “fully committed” to implementing the civilian nuclear deal with India, which it expects to serve as the foundation for a productive partnership on non-proliferation, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said.

Terming the nuclear agreement a “landmark accord” that carries strong bipartisan support in both India and the U.S., Ms. Clinton said it allowed Washington “to move beyond concerns about the status of India’s atomic programme.”

“This second stage in our [U.S.-India] history continued through the last U.S. and Indian administrations and culminated in the completion of the nuclear agreement,” she said at the Synergies Summit of the U.S.-India Business Council on Wednesday. — PTI
