Jammu: The Kathua district of Jammu and Kahsmir observed a bandh on Sunday over the beheading of a cow.
The bandh was near-total in Bani, Basholi, Kathua, Lakhanpur, Mahanpur and Hiranagar in the district with the closure of all business establishments in the area in protest against the act, official sources said.
However, there was no untoward incident anywhere in the area. The beheading of a cow by people belonging to a particular community in Surjan-Chaloga belt of Banp tehsil triggered protests from members of the other community who also torched five houses on Saturday. Police opened fire to bring the situation under control. — PTI
