NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh led 20 MLAs of the recently formed Goa Democratic Alliance to meet President Pratibha Patil here on Saturday to demand that a “floor test” to determine the fate of the Kamat Government in Goa be the first agenda in the Assembly on Monday.
Leader of the Opposition Manohar Parrikar was already elected leader of 20 MLAs, constituting the majority, and on July 26 he staked claim to form the government when he met Governor S.C. Jamir, Ms. Patil was told.
‘In a minority’
The Congress-led Government was now clearly in a minority, the BJP said. Although the House is in session, on July 26 the Government failed to move the Bill on the agenda and the House was adjourned. The party has demanded that if the Kamat Government loses the trust vote, Mr. Parrikar be invited to form the next one.
