Says party’s campaign would be intensified and taken across the country
Kolkata: Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday dismissed the economic rehabilitation package announced by West Bengal Industries Minister Nirupam Sen as “a rotten package,” which was only a “deal for the passage of the Tatas” .
“Through their dealings with the Tata Group and some foreign company, they [the State Government] have forgotten how to deal with the people”, Ms. Banerjee said here .
While the Tata Group is the front for the project a foreign company has equity in it, she alleged.
She said that her party’s campaign on both the Singur and Nandigram issues would be intensified and taken across the country. She reiterated the demand for “the dismissal of the State Government for having violated every tenet of law, all principles and the Constitution.”
On the Singur issue, she blamed the Government for the “undemocratic manner in which it was using force to stamp out opposition” to the project. “The State Government will be responsible for the consequences of its actions there,” she warned.
As for the situation in Nandigram, Ms. Banerjee said that “no State Government can be allowed to continue in power after indulging in such State-terrorism” in the area. “The Centre cannot remain quiet on the issue,” she said, demanding its intervention in Nandigram “where the situation is deteriorating.”
The Trinamool Congress will be observing a “black day” on June 21, the day the Left Front completes its 30th year in power, Ms. Banerjee said.
