Srinagar: Army troops foiled an infiltration bid by a group of five militants at Kalbani Nar near the Line of Control in north Kashmir on Sunday night, officials said on Monday.
The ambush party challenged the infiltrators and in a heavy exchange of fire that followed, one or two militants were injured, an Army spokesman said. It was believed the injured were taken away by fellow militants. A search operation in the area led to the recovery of an AK assault rifle, two magazines and 57 rounds.
In Ramban district, two militants intruded into the house of head constable Khurshid Ahmad Malik and shot him dead. PTI
