Vice-Chancellor Maruthamuthu implements Syndicate resolution
I. Singaram takes charge from P. Periakaruppan
“I feel humble and extremely happy”
MADURAI: Madurai Kamaraj University Registrar I. Singaram, who was removed from the post on February 4, was reinstated on Tuesday.
This followed a resolution passed at the Syndicate meeting held here on Monday in which majority of the members did not approve the Registrar’s removal and preferred his immediate reinstatement.
Vice-Chancellor P. Maruthamuthu signed the ‘reinstatement order’ in the morning, citing the Syndicate resolution and reinstating Dr. Singaram as Registrar from Tuesday forenoon.
Immediately after receiving the order, he took charge from P. Periakaruppan, Professor in Political Science Department, who was appointed Registrar in-charge after the varsity administration stated that the Governor had accorded permission for reverting Dr. Singaram to his original post of professor.
Members of the Syndicate, including Secretaries of various Government departments, supported the reinstatement and passed a resolution accordingly.
“I feel humble and extremely happy for the opportunity to discharge duties as per the statute of the MKU. My earnest effort will be to get a good name for the university and the Government,” Dr. Singaram said when contacted.
