APCC general secretary Ambati Rambabu, who was suspended from the party, had to wait in vain for two hours at Gandhi Bhavan to depose before the disciplinary action committee.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Rambabu, a close aide of Congress MP from Kadapa Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, wondered why he was being punished by the leadership. “As directed by the panel, I came to explain my version. I am yet to receive the suspension letter from the AICC Central leadership and the APCC are silent on the suspension. I am going through an agonising wait for the letter,” he said.
The disciplinary committee on July 12 had given Mr. Rambabu time till Saturday to depose before it and show cause why action should not be taken for his objectionable remarks against the Chief Minister K. Rosaiah. He was served the show cause for his statement that Mr. Rosaiah had prevented party legislators from joining the yatra and also made them attend the Assembly on July 8, the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
