Though the TDP suffered yet another setback in party president Chandrababu Naidu’s home-ground with senior party leader and Palamaner legislator K. Amarnath Reddy joining Jagan’s bandwagon after a meeting with him in the Chanchalguda jail in Hyderabad on Friday, it did not come as any surprise.
It was only expected sooner than later going by the present political discourse in the State, especially after the Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy floated his own political outfit.
Against this backdrop, Mr. Amarnath Reddy who was found sulking for quite some time now, was only waiting for an opportune time to switch sides to the YSRC. Mr. Naidu’s letter to the Prime Minister last month calling for the convening of an all-party meeting on the Telangana issue, appears to have come handy for Mr. Reddy who said he was ‘pained’ over the ‘unilateral manner’ in which Mr. Naidu chose to write the letter.
Meanwhile, colleagues of Amarnadh Reddy who accompanied him to the Chanchalguda jail on Friday, told this Correspondent that he had a ‘one-to-one-meeting’ with Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy for nearly an hour. Sources also said that he would return to his constituency, Palamaner in the next two days and start preparations for a huge meeting within the next two weeks to join the YSRC in the presence of Y.S. Vijayamma, Jagan’s mother and party’s honorary president.
