CHENNAI: As citizens of the metropolis participated in New Year parties and events on Saturday evening, renowned tennis players, who are here to participate in the Chennai Open 2006 tournament, had a ball at The Park: they had a variety of international cuisine for dinner at the All Stars party, hosted by a private management company to ring in New Year.

Ivan Ljubicic (from Croatia), Paradon Srichapan (Thailand), Carlos Moya (Spain), Radak Stepanek (Czech Republic) with their family and partners in tow warmed up to a quiet party from 8 30 p.m at the Thai restaurant. Potatoes, stir-fried broccoli with mushroom and koftas were on the menu. A select group of fans hovered around.

"The boys will go out somewhere. Nothing has been planned as of now," said a spokesperson for the event management company. The tournament begins on Monday and the final showdown will be on Sunday next.

On the New Year day, the players will interact and play tennis with their young fans on the Corporation grounds at Nungambakkam.
