While Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Janata Durbar has been discontinued after it ended in chaos, Chief Ministers in some other States are running the mass contact programme successfully. One of them is Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. His initiative has became a success story earning him the United Nations Public Service Award for Mass Contact Programme. He directly engages with people, addressing their grievances.
Under the programme, the CMO invites online applications from across the State and it goes through a process of selection before being finally put before the Chief Minister.
This is unlike the open invitation sent out to people by the Delhi Chief Minister to attend his public meeting and put forth their grievances directly to him and his Cabinet colleagues.
