A 19-year-old girl was reportedly gang-raped by three men in bushes near the railway tracks under the Lingarajapuram flyover on Thursday night.

The victim, who stays nearby, was on her way to take a bus to Shivajinagar to meet her sister. Around 10.15 p.m., three men pounced on her and dragged her into the bushes.

The men raped her repeatedly, and when she tried to resist she was assaulted. The girl managed to free herself from their clutches and went towards Pillanna Garden where a few people saw her and called her father, a scrap merchant.

The father took the victim home. On Friday morning, he took her to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Hospital for treatment. The doctors alerted the K.G. Halli police, who registered a case . The girl was sent to Bowring Hospital for a medical test. The result is awaited.

The girl told police that she could identify one of the rapists whom she remembers seeing near her house.

“The search for the three culprits has started. We are hopeful of making arrests soon,” said a police officer.
