Feb. 7 Indian leg-spinner Anil Kumble became only the second bowler in Test history after J.C. Laker (England) to take all ten wickets in an innings - against Pakistan in the second Test in Delhi. Feb. 10 P. Gopi Chand (A.P.) and Aparna Popat (Karnataka) won the men's and women's singles titles respectively in the National badminton championship in Delhi. Feb. 14 Fifth National Games inaugurated at Imphal. Feb. 18 Jaspal Rana bettered the world record in centre-fire pistol with a score of 591 at the National Games shooting competition at Imphal. Feb. 21 South Korea edged out India 3-2 in the Asia Oceania Group I Davis Cup tie in Seogwipo City. Feb. 25 The curtain came down on the fifth National Games.
