Jaspal Rana equalled the Asian Games record and his own National record in the centre fire pistol (25m) event of the National shooting championship in Bangalore.

Roopa Unnikrishnan set National mark in the sport rifle three-position event of the National shooting championship in Bangalore.

Indian leg-spinner Anil Kumble became only the second bowler in Test history after J.C. Laker (England) to take all ten wickets in an innings - against Pakistan in the second Test in Delhi.

P. Gopi Chand (A.P.) and Aparna Popat (Karnataka) won the men's and women's singles titles respectively in the National badminton championship in Delhi.

Jaspal Rana bettered the world record in centre-fire pistol with a score of 591 at the National Games shooting competition at Imphal.
