The Scholar programme is a unique interactive web-based support system developed for teachers and senior secondary students (Std. XI and XII) studying for a career in Science and Engineering. The subjects offered include Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. These programmes are designed to complement the existing senior secondary school curriculum without burdening them with additional study load.
Teachers might find it to be a highly interactive tool to teach difficult concepts. It provides an integrated set of materials and services, which meet the needs of both students and their teachers. These include comprehensive online interactive learning materials and activities, including assessments and revision packs online services through our virtual learning environment, which give access to online communities, resources, monitoring information, and information tools printed study guides which contain key reference materials and learning activities tutor notes with valuable curriculum and planning information.
Net education
Scholar is an Internet product and can be accessed via any Internet connection from school, homes or the Internet cafes. The only way to access information within this is via an authorised username and password, issued by the scholar administration team once the necessary permissions are granted.
Anywhere any time
The flexibility of the Scholar supported-learning programme allows teachers and students to choose how far to go while studying and the rate of progress. Credits earned can gain exemptions from certain university or college courses, meaning faster progress towards a higher education degree.
Heriot-Watt University welcomes applications from students with good Higher, Advanced Higher, HN and A-level credits.
The materials have been specially written for national programmes, using teams of subject specialists and reviewers from schools, colleges and the university. There is also a comprehensive staff development programme. It was developed in partnership with secondary schools and further education colleges and published and distributed by the Interactive University on behalf of Heriot-Watt.
