Teaching right!

Children should be exposed to the English language with the correct pronunciations and appropriate pauses from an early age. Conversing in English at home provides an additional scope for betterment in this regard.

Reading means reading with understanding. Writing depends upon the extent of the grasp the children would have acquired by listening and understanding, on the subject.

Much depends upon the ability of the teacher who would have taught them the subject using accurate terminology and syntax. The lesson should be read aloud by the teacher, with explanation of the contents along with meanings of difficult words. Students have to be encouraged to guess the meaning of unfamiliar words with explanatory sentences, in different contexts.

Meanings should be provided by reference to certain parallel words in English, rather than by using vernacular terms.
