Mnemonics is a powerful technique with which we use association to remember some specific things. Mnemonics will help you to associate what you want to remember with something that is easier to remember.

How do you acquire the habit of these associations?

You can take the first letter of each item or name and make an interesting word or sentence. Here are some examples: 1. The seven colours of the spectrum

Richard Of York Goes Battling In Vain

First letter of each word represents the first letter of a colour or you may use the word `VIBGYOR'.

2. Nine planets of our solar system.

Men Plan Mary VENUS Jumps OR My Very Educated Mother Just Showed Or Nine Planets.

3. Digit represented by words containing the same number of letters.

In similar ways, Mnemonies are helpful in remembering various terms dates, spellings and others. It is an interesting and useful exercise to device your own mnemonics for different situations.
