Must admit that I stumbled into this song rather late in life. David Lynch’s cult thriller Blue Velvet (1986) has the villainous yet suave Dennis Hopper crooning to this song. The mike in his hand, his body swaying in that very retro fashion… the song captured my fancy. It’s not one of his most famous tracks and I had to hunt for it on several peer-to-peer online networks. But it’s soothing, romantic, and beautiful. I don’t know if it’s the soulful voice, the simple words or the very light and almost ethereal music… but this is certainly one song that has become a part of me.
