A high note

‘Nuvvo Kala’ is a new private album to hit the Telugu chartbusters

Mixed fare Nuvvo Kala showcases varied emotions

A chartered accountant and a techie have little to do with music until you meet Ranganath Parankusam and Ashwin Palaparthi. The duo have just launched their first Telugu private album Nuvvo Kala and their adrenaline is on a high li ke the groovy chartbusters. “We never expected the album to turn out to be different yet so melodious,” beam the two.

For Ranganath, who has grown up listening to the likes of music directors like Rajeshwar Rao, music is just a passion. “I don’t know to sing but I have an ear for pleasing music. When Ashwin dropped at my office to talk about work, we ended discussing about music and the songs he has composed,” he says. Impressed by Ashwin’s compositions, Ranganath turned producer and also an advisor. “Unlike other Telugu private albums, which are just a mishmash of remixes, these songs are originals,” claims Ranganath.

Ashwin sought much more from life moving away from the cubicles of his office. A self-taught singer, he considers music director Illayaraja as his source of inspiration. When he was not creating a new programme in the USA, he was generating impromptu tunes. “If some pieces are impulsive, others are based on my friends’ experiences, like the song Untavani, which was tuned after my friend shared her thoughts on her broken relationship,” he states.

After coming back to India, Ashwin set up his own company Value Minds, which is a platform for online testing software (the company is launching a new software this month). However, his tryst with music continued and he wrote lyrics and created tunes for almost 80 numbers.

“Selecting eight tracks for this album was quite tough but we have chosen only the best,” he beams. Promising a groovy time, Nuvvo Kala has a bit of everything in the soundtrack. It captures the fun spirit yet showcases varied emotions. Besides Ashwin, Harshika (of Happy Days and Mantra fame), Deepu, Vittal Rahul (a ghazal singer) have crooned the numbers.

The album breaks the barriers too as Weekend song bursts out on the party scene in four different languages including Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi and Hindi.

Nuvvo Kala is priced at Rs 55 and is available at music stores.
