Delhi’s Dhoomimal Art Gallery is presently hosting an interesting exhibition of paintings and photographs for the city’s art lovers. Titled “Elements of Nature”, the works are by Tanzania-born Tazim Jaffer. An amalgamation of different cultures, Tazim’s current works flaunt various shapes, symbols, textures and bold colours. “I love the use of vibrant colours and I am also attracted to layering because it gives fullness to the paintings. Also, I like streamlining and defining forms and shapes,” says the artist. A winner of many awards, Jaffer, who has been displaying her works in multimedia and studio art for the last 25 years, had used new elements like saris in installation and sculptures in some of her earlier exhibitions. Geography being central to her work, her photographs are mostly of sand dunes.

Jaffer’s exhibition ends this Sunday.
