Dewdrops of memories



Abhay Rustum Sopori, son of santoor maestro Bhajan Sopori, has just launched his latest music album, “ Dancing Dewdrops” in the Capital’s Maurya Sheraton hotel this past week. While former Governor of Assam, S.N. Sinha was the chi ef guest at the event, Shamim Azad, wife of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was among the other well-known faces. Talking about his album at the event, Abhay said, “This album is an expression of my childhood memories in Kashmir.”

The album was launched by the well-known music label, EMI. Ayoung Abhay, adorned with a lot of music awards, has many albums to his credit. He has also composed music for Mahatma, a film made as a tribute to the Father of the Nation, and screened recently at the United Nations to mark the first International Non-violence Day. He also composed a song called, “Aao Kadam Badhayain”, a composition that he made to raise funds for the earthquake hit in Kashmir. Abhay, born in Srinagar, received his taleem in santoor from his father who belongs to the Sufiana gharana.
