Shadow puppet show
Alliance Francaise de Trivandrum in association with the Embassy of France in India is conducting a shadow puppet show.
Called `How Wang Fang was saved,' the show will beconducted by Brigitte Revelli and group.
A French choreographer, dancer and sculptor, Brigitte has been living in India for more than 15 years and is currently the director of a puppetry company based in Kerala .
The show is based on a story from Marguerite Yourcenar's `Nouvelles Orientales.'
The story
The story revolves around a master painter, Wang-Fo in the Han dynasty. He apparently has the gift of bringing his paintings to life.
He regained the sight of a rich man through one of his paintings. The man later becomes his loyal sidekick.
The Emperor imprisons the painter and wants him to paint a picture for him.
How Wang-Fo saves himself forms the rest of the story.
