A look at Puja Arya's WIFW collection

With Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week set to commence later this month, fashion designer Puja Arya gave an insight into her Spring Summer collection 2007 to be showcased at the fashion event. Inspired from the Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood song "Strawberries, Cherries and an Angel Kiss of Spring", Puja has named the collection Summer Wine. She, however, clarifies it's not meant to be taken literally.

Block-prints

Puja Arya, who made her debut at the WIFW earlier this year, hails from Jaipur, and thus one sees traditional hand block-printing techniques like bandhini and lahariya in her works.

Puja says the principal change she has made from her last collection is that this time she is using bigger prints in place of the small block prints, fusing new life into a dormant art form.

She describes her collection as "romantic and soft." She has used a lot of pink, beige and bright yellow.

"The use of these colours makes the outfits look stylish yet relaxed," she explains.

Designed for the global young woman, the collection includes a variety of dresses - long and short skirts, saris, tops with puffed sleeves and more.

Also, the collection has a variety of accessories like bags and scarves. She adds, "Comfort and style are the two things that have been taken care of in the collection. The use of fabrics such as chiffon, georgette and cotton guarantees comfort and at the same time gives a touch of elegance to the attire."

After a promising preview, let's hope the entire collection is equally good
