HEALTHY EATING Alive serves food under 300 calories
Do you ever fear gaining all the tediously lost calories by eating that tiny bit of cake? Or frustrated when no matter how much you crave for, that Tiramisu will never enjoy the `prized position' on your plate? Just imagine a large slice of chocolate mousse with only 180 calories!
VLCC claims to have found all the answers as it endeavours to make eating out healthier in the Capital with the launch of its new restaurant Alive. It was inaugurated by Shabana Azmi and Kapil Dev with the lighting of the lamp andcutting of a freshly baked low calorie date cake.
, Alive with its lively dιcor and simple interiors is India's first calorie kiosk where each meal promises to be less than 300 calories. It aims at revolutionising the concept of healthy eating, by proving that healthy eating is not necessarily boring. The 1500-square feet restaurant boasts of a pan-Indian and international cuisine with 108 dishes, 66 of which are continuously changed. It will also have a body composition analyser and a nutritionist to suggest an adequate meal depending upon your body composition.
Speaking about the restaurant Vandana Luthra, chairperson, VLCC said the project was always on the cards but it failed to materialise earlier. "Maintaining the body is of prime importance today with obesity becoming a global problem and with over-dependence on fast foods. Today, people should live a disciplined life, the foundation for which is disciplined eating."
Cost effective
The prices at Alive are easy on the pocket too. The vegetable Indian combo and non - vegetarian continental combo for instance, is priced at Rs.75 and Rs.85 (Rs.6less without beverage). Luthra said it targets institutionalised sales to cater to corporate houses as well as customers.
Shabana Azmi said on the occasion, "To have this concept where you can have food to eat without guilt, I wouldn't leave this for anything." Affirming this, Kapil Dev, stressed upon the motto of "Alive and kicking" . VLCC also plans to launch Alive cooking classes from next month to take healthy eating to Indian homes.
