TEN AND TICKING McDonalds has entered its 10th year in India.
McDonalds, now one of the leading fast food joints in India, has entered its 10th year of operation in the country.
To celebrate the occasion, the company organised a host of programmes and games in New Delhi this past week. Vikram Bakshi, the Managing Director of the company, inaugurated the ceremony at The Intercontinental The Grand. He expressed his gratitude towards the flag-bearers of the company. Crew and managers from different branches of the restaurant chain were felicitated, "for their extraordinary performance and contribution to the organisation."
Kids, its USP
Started in India in 1996, today, McDonalds has 76 branches across the country and is still expanding. It has also moulded its menu to suit the Indian taste. The ingredients used here are chicken, potatoes, fish, bread and dairy products. "To suit the Indian taste we have discarded any use of beef and pork in India," says Bakshi.
Speaking about the company's main target, he said, "Our USP is children. Bachche hain hamari shaan. So we have many special items to attract them." A believer in the dignity of labour, he said that apart from customer satisfaction, "we try to give due respect to our staff."
The restaurant has also withdrawn the use of polythene bags and uses recyclable paper bags to avoid harming the environment, he pointed out. Apart from running the restaurant business, McDonalds does some charity work for impoverished children too. It generates funds in collaboration with the prominent sight-saving non-governmental organisation, ORBIS International and Dr. Shroff's charity eye hospital. Also, they have instituted McAwards to honour and motivate outstanding students in academic and extra-curricular activities, he added.
