A Rajasthani food fest at Tandoor till July 14

It's Shaan e Mewar, a Rajasthani food festival, that's on till July 14, at Tandoor, the restaurant that serves ethnic fare at the Aruna Hotel Complex, on Sterling Road.

The festival presents a variety from different parts of the State put together by Master Chef Amar Singh of Udaipur. Being an arid State with perennial water shortage, the cuisine makes ample use of milk, buttermilk and ghee. Further, in the absence of fresh green vegetables, the cuisine tends to be on the spicy side.

The menu for the festival consists of dishes such as matar potli, makki ke dane, sabudane ke pakore, besan ke gate, kadhi pakode, dal bati churma, papad ki subzi, aam ka pulao, lahsoon ka pulao, bajre ki roti, papad ki puri, bhendvi, jungli mans, murgh ke sooley, lal mans and Jodhpuri murgh masala and sweet dishes such as aloo ka seera, malpua and ghevar.

The a la carte food festival is on from Monday to Friday, 7.30 p.m. to 11 p.m. For reservations call 28262626 or 28283636.
