Busy like a bee

Sridevi was in Noida recently to inaugurate a shopping arcade

Sridevi

Sprawling multiplexes and commercial malls have become the symbol of modern cities and the visible symbol of the upsurge in fortunes of the middle class. And these days it is not unusual to find a celebrity hopping over for the launch of a new mall, a new multiplex. It was no different this weekend when Sridevi, the heartthrob of millions, touched down at Noida's Radisson hotel to coincide with the launch of a new shopping mall, Fortunes Smiles, A Shopping Arcade.

Sridevi, attired in a beautiful white embroidered sari, lit the lamp and formally inaugurated the function in the presence of numerous admirers and photographers.

Sridevi appreciated the work of K.C. Mittal, Chairman of the Shiv Kala Group. Calling him "not only a great builder, but a great achiever and a social worker", Sridevi was a picture of confidence. Notably, her husband Boney Kapoor, whom she almost always accompanies to public functions, was absent.

Sridevi, unlike her contemporary actresses like Rati Agnihotri, Jayaprada and Padmini Kolhapure who are still living a public life with occasional film roles thrown in, likes private and hassle-free life. "I have a lot of work to do in my family and in the society and I am fully engaged in my work."
