Home's where style is

The accessories for your dream home are equally important

SEVEN WONDERS Apart from fusion furniture, the store houses exclusive banana and hibiscus fabrics and handpicked table linen among other things Photo: Murali Kumar K.

"I draw my inspiration from tradition but only to lend it a contemporary look," confesses interior designer Poonam Kant even as I admired a rather ornate coffee table. She threw open the doors of her furniture and lifestyle store, Seven, for the discerning populace in the city only a couple of months ago. The store offers complete interiors solutions as well.

Fielding the inevitable question about the rather unusual name, she draws my attention to the seven notes of the musical scale, the seven minds of body, feeling, desire, rightness, reason, the sense of self and finally, the seven deadly sins and the seven heavenly virtues.

Experimenting

"I love experimenting with different materials," confesses this astute businesswoman who has travelled extensively all over the country for the same purpose. The store houses exclusive banana and hibiscus fabrics, handpicked table linen and cushion covers, platters, vases, photo frames, mirrors and candle stands, crafted by master artisans and craftsmen in stone, glass or wood.

If you are looking to dress up your windows, then you will find a truly appealing range of blinds and elegant silks for curtains to add that special touch for formal occasions.

"Each home must reflect the personality and the individuality of the owner or occupant of the space," emphasises Poonam, who clearly does not believe in homes overwhelmed by a single designer.

She, for one, has several meetings with her clients before venturing to work on the space in order to develop an understanding of their likes and dislikes.

"Passion is very important," as Poonam puts it. She avers that each individual has to evolve to reach his or her optimum potential.

While her fusion furniture pieces are definitely worth checking out, this store makes a very interesting destination for gift shoppers.

For more details, contact Poonam Gupta at #328, 3rd Main, First Block, R.T. Nagar, Bangalore 560 032. Call 93422-00515 or email seven.poonam@gmail.com
