Cheran classic
For those who love films steeped in Tamil culture, Cheran's "Thavamai Thavamirunthu" is a must see. The three-hour-and-22-minute film, shot with a high-definition digital camera, has taken a decent opening and is being appreciated for its stark realism and narrative style.
However, some theatres screening the film wanted it to be trimmed, but Cheran refused to cut a single frame. Says Cheran: "I have spent over a year on the project and my work shows on the screen. Tell me which scene should I cut? In fact, I had seen the film with the audience and not even a single person stirred out of their seats as they were engrossed in the proceedings."
