Life in the futuristic lounge

Mangalore has brought in an element of Mumbai — a techno lounge for the young crowd

RIGHT AMBIENCE The lounge is bound to be the hottest place to chill out

How long does it take for Mangalore to take in the qualities of its big brother Mumbai? Not long if there are good entrepreneurs. Thanks to Sandeep Shetty here who has been instrumental in bringing a punch to the city. The new Lounge Bar, Zero Degree, which opened this week in Mangalore, says it all with its interiors and lights. One of a kind here, the Zero Degree could prove to be the hangout for the cool crowd.

Heavy fuel

Sandeep says Mangalore lacked punch and that it was getting boring and insipid for youngsters who looked for some action. It is like the "Heavy Fuel" of Mark Knopfler coming alive... Life makes perfect sense, loves the food...

Those who have just one glimpse of Zero Degree can have heavy fuel with a platter of Italian, Chinese and Continental food waiting to be gobbled up, says chef Gunanand Bhat (popularly known as Guna), who has worked in rocking places in Mumbai, Jaipur, and Dehradun. He says the greenery in Mangalore can be compared with that of the Doon. He and his team are raring to have a go at dishing out the best for the Mangalorean gourmands.

How can a place rock without a DJ? So here's DJ Yogi who not only looks hip, but also loves to shake the crowd not just to retro music but also the latest from Shakira's "Fixation", which he was playing when MetroPlus talked to him.

15,000 watts

Yogi generates an awesome 15,000 watts and listening to it is mindblowing. Local architect Shailesh clubbed with Rajesh of Bangalore worked on the interiors. The subtle colours and the lasers blend very nicely creating a great ambience for light and sound effects inside the lounge. The huge murals cast in aluminium claddings gives a techno look to the lounge.
Ambience: Techno and futuristic
Wallet Factor: On the higher side
Service: Leisurely
Speciality: Continental
