It was all energy and enthusiasm at Atharva, the annual management fest organised by the T.A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) at Manipal. The fest got off to a flying start on December 2. The three-day extravaganza is one of the most eagerly awaited events in the B-school calendar and attracts some of the bigwigs of the corporate world as well as the best talents from across the country.

The inaugural event of the fest, Sankalp, the business plan formulation contest, attracted 155 entries out of which the six best plans were selected for the final presentation. The team from SCMHRD, Pune were the winners. The major crowd puller of the day was Brouhaha, the informal event. It comprised events ranging from Just a Minute (JAM) to Potpourri. It was a welcome relief for the participants after the day's gruelling schedule. Even the audience got lucky at Brouhaha and walked away with a number of prizes. The campfire was a unique way to facilitate interaction between the participants. The quiz and strumming of guitar by the glow of the campfire brought day one to a perfect end.

On the second day, Brouhaha again drew a large crowd with the major attractions being the dance competition, Footloose and the personality contest, Mr. & Ms. Manipal. Yatharth, the research paper presentation contest, was held for the first time in TAPMI and received 75 entries from B-schools across India. The team from K.J. Somaiya emerged victorious in this event.

The management games by the various forums and committees kept the participants on their toes. These games provided the participants an opportunity to test their skills in the various functional areas of management, and colleges such as NMIMS, Alliance Business Academy, Christ College, XIME and SCMS ran out winners in the games.

The Quiz On The Beach held at Kaup beach was hosted by Giri Balasubramanian. It drew students as well as corporate teams with the questions being extremely challenging. Six out of 70 teams made it to the finals. The team from Cipher Consulting, consisting of Mitesh Agrawal and Ajay Kasargod emerged winners after a close contest, trouncing the team from Sify Java Green.

The most prestigious event of the fest, The Young Business Leader, started on the first day and had been running parallel to all the other events during the three days of the fest. Here 14 students from top b-schools in the country are put through a gruelling 40-hour schedule spread over two days. They are asked to give presentations, conduct interviews, face mock press interviews and navigate a team during the outbound. The event has only one winner who gets a cash prize of Rs. one lakh, and this year the event was won by Sathya Prathipati from IIM-Bangalore.
