Their paths had never crossed before. So when pop singer Bhargavi and MTV veejay Rannvijay Singh met, they met as strangers.
Coming as they do from showbiz, it didn't really take long for them to break the ice and once that was done, there was no stopping the duo. From cutting jokes, taking digs, sizing up reality shows and comparing notes, they had something to say on just about everything under the sun. And by the end of the talkathon, they discovered they weren't strangers after all.

Rannvijay: So you are a singer?
Bhargavi: Yes, I am into playback singing. I recently won SS Channel's pop star hunt and am recording an album with those guys.
Rannvijay: Great, maybe you can give us a song right now.
Bhargavi (laughs): Oh no! I have got a sore throat. Can't really sing.
Rannvijay: Come on, everybody says that. First they say they sing and when they are asked to, up comes a sore throat. Actually, I feel like singing but my throat's sore too.
Bhargavi (laughs): Honestly, I have got a throat infection...
Rannvijay: That's okay. By the way, I am a Punjabi and have got a brother. Unfortunately, we are two Singhs in the family who can't really sing.
Bhargavi (laughs): What does your dad do?
Rannvijay: He's in the Army...
Bhargavi: Hey, my dad was in the Army too.
Rannvijay: I would have been in the Army too. In fact, five generations of my family have been with the Army. With me, it would have been the sixth generation. In fact, I got selected but didn't join because it clashed with my Roadies reality show schedule.
Bhargavi: Actually, I started my singing with Army bands.
Rannvijay (smiles): Yeah, I know. The typical jazz group with a Casio player and Congo drums...
Bhargavi: Yeah. And then I started looking around and started performing at functions.
Rannvijay: Do you sing in regional languages? Tamil teriyama (Do you know Tamil?)
Bhargavi (grins): Yes, I can sing in a couple of languages.
Rannvijay: Did you sing in Super. Nagarjuna was the hero in that, wasn't he?
Bhargavi: No I didn't. Many people have asked me this question but I guess that's because my voice resembles that of the female singer in the film. Tell me, is this your first time in Hyderabad?
Rannvijay: No, I come here quite often. I like Hyderabad. It's a nice city where you feel like coming down once in a while and chill out for a couple of days. The party scene's good too. I remember that we wind up early in Bangalore but some parties here go on till early morning. That's cool.
Bhargavi: But I want a break from this city. You know, maybe go out and check out the scene in other places. Anyways, I keep going to Chennai.
Rannvijay: Really? So how's your album with SS coming along.
Bhargavi: Great. There are lots of things to do on that front. I had a great time with makeover sessions. I think I am lucky to have won the contest. There was this guy in the contest who sang really great but he was not chosen. I was stunned.
Rannvijay: If you ask me, it isn't just talent that sees you through. These days, it is important to be a complete package. Look at Jennifer Lopez. She isn't such a great singer but she is a wonderful performer. To be a winner in talent shows, you have to be talented as well as be a good performer. I think viewers today are sick of sweet boys. They want somebody with a difference, with an attitude.
Bhargavi: I can see what you mean. So, are you a bad boy? You do have that rugged look, the bad boy image...
Rannvijay: Thank you. What I meant was you can be a bad boy and still be a good human being. It's all about attitude, the way you carry yourself.
Bhargavi: Hey, do you think my kind of image would be accepted in your show - the Roadies.
Rannvijay: Yeah, I think you do have a good chance. You're prim and proper. The first time I looked at you, I got the feeling that you are a performer and a good one at that. And if you aren't finicky about food, like say eating raw eggs with salt and stuff like that, then you definitely stand a chance.
Bhargavi: I am a total foodie and can eat a lot of stuff.
Rannvijay: Me too. Back in my college days, I used to come back home, open the fridge and chomp anything I could lay my hands on.
Bhargavi: That sounds like me. I am the last person to check out what I am eating. So where are you off to today?
Rannvijay: I have got this show at a shopping mall in the evening.
Bhargavi: Cool. All the best and hope you achieve whatever you set your sights on.
Rannvijay: That goes for you too. See ya.
