MODEL MATERIAL Farhad and Farina
Hyderabadi models are going places. And how? If there were a few pageant winners from the city earlier, meet the new breed of ramp scorchers who are walking tall in the arc lights in fashion Meccas of the country, Mumbai and Delhi.
Twin cities' lad Farhad was on the ramp at the LIFW this year with Upen Patel and Muzammil, got splashed on industry papers and went on to get featured on Zoom TV. "It's an amazing feeling. Everyone knows your name in the audience," says an elated Farhad on his LIFW experience. He modelled for Arjun Khanna, Wendell Rodricks and Rohit Bal, sporting the Rock star look, strolled the Goan flea market in the oh-so-cool line or simply donned the stunning beige linen line with metal and bead work creations from the designers respectively. He is projected as the new face for 2006.
Yet another model to have made it big in recent days is Farina. This popular ramp model from town who has the right mix of ιlan, attitude and confidence stood sixth in the Gladrags 2005 contest held in Mumbai recently.
On the go
She is also the face of Bombay Dyeing the campaign unveils in September. Back home, "I need some time for myself at the moment," she observes. What does it take to be in the top ten? "A lot of training, rehearsals and grooming went into the pageant," she explains. "My fitness coach Yousuf and my parents have been there all through," adds Farhad as he looks at the international ramp next.
The writing on the wall is clear, Hyderabadi models are definitely going places and with a little effort and oodles of commitment, they can be on par with any of the top names in the national circuit.
