CATCH OF THE DAY A new place for seafood buffs
Ask any piscivorous (one who habitually eats fish) about a seafood eatery and you will have to be fished out of a deluge. Well there's an addition to the city's seafood platter. Harbour Market, the new seafood rooftop restaurant at Hotel Avenue Regent is the place to fish for authentic seafood. And the fresh ambience makes it settings quite perfect. So sit under the fishing nets that camouflage the roof, big windows through which wafts in the evening breeze heavy with the smell of sand and sea, bamboo shacks that edge the room serving the popular buffet, bright lights and dance music all give it a garden party atmosphere. An artificial waterfall completes the set. Though qualified as a seafood destination, there is a good effort to draw everyone to the restaurant and not just the seafood lover. So there is a wholesome buffet (Rs. 210+ taxes) for all. There are four seafood dishes in the buffet, to pamper the fish eater. Seafood soup, fish fry, crab masala and seafood rice. The rest is for everyone. Now for the die-hard lover of seafood. Go for on-the-spot cooking option and try the seafood, fried, grilled, curried or what you will. The meats are marinated, ready and waiting. Complement it with the right roti or paratha or appam, which is all made right there. Continental seafood choices are available too. So if you wish for squid orlay, garlic butter crab, prawn tempura it's all there. With a variety buffet to indulge in, the a la carte menu too is ample. That's the one for the piscivorous. "The restaurant plans to have a table-to-table magician to entertain while families enjoy the outing," informs the courteous F&B manager, Anil G. Nair, who has left no stone unturned to make the venue a good seafood destination. The informal atmosphere, the top of the world feel, hot fried fish washed by beer or your choice of drink and all will seem right with the world. Harbour Market is open only for dinner from 7 - 11pm and is available for private parties for lunch.
